Because our voices matter, and this is the future of our planet that we’re talking about.
What's going on?
At the end of 2020, Aotearoa officially declared a climate emergency.
The Government committed to urgent action towards reducing emissions, and in order to figure out the best way to do that, the Government set up the Climate Change Commission. Their job is to provide independent, evidence-based advice to the Government to help Aotearoa transition to a climate-resilient and low emissions future.
At the start of February, the Climate Change Commission released their first draft advice package to the public. They did this to give everyone a chance to have their say on the recommendations they’re going to give to the Government.
The Climate Change Commission really wants to hear from the young people of Aotearoa, and so this is a real opportunity for young people to have our say on what we think about the advice, and to share our stories about how climate change is and will continue to affect our lives.
